Transporting
the whole Back to the Future (1985) scenario into the Wild West works surprisingly
well and this film is actually better than number two in the series. (The make-up
effects are better and the story isn't as convoluted or confusing.)
Part of the fun is that by now that we know the characters so well that it
is interesting to see them in their Wild West reincarnations. And we would approach
the Wild West in the same way Michael J. Fox does in the film: with
the knowledge of dozens of Clint Eastwood spaghetti westerns...
But,
as always, nothing is to be taken seriously and audiences are even treated to
the sight of ZZ Top appearing as a cowboy square dance band!
See Part III: it manages to recapture the sense of fun that made the first
Back to the Future (1985) so memorable and enjoyable...
