THE TIME MACHINE The Facts

Director George Pal was a close friend of fellow animator Walter Lantz, and in the scenes where the Eloi are having a good time, every so often you can distinctly hear the "Woody Woodpecker" laugh, which Pal included as an in-joke or tribute.

The first airing of this film on network television occurred on the same date in October 1966 that George stops to witness the start of the nuclear war.

The plaque on the control panel of time machine reads "Manufactured by H George Wells."
